Respiratory Therapist (RRT - Adult)
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide assessment, therapeutic intervention, and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or related complications. Responsibilities include monitoring and managing disease, performing therapeutic interventions, educating patients on preventative care and self-management, and adjusting therapy based on patient assessments and equipment monitoring.
Unit/Department Details
- Facility size: 350+ beds
- Units include:
- 40 bed IV NICU
- 8 bed Pediatric ICU
- 24 beds Pediatric
- 36 beds Adult ICU
- 28 beds Intermediate Adult ICU
- 110 beds Adult General Floor
- 47 beds Emergency Room
- Assignments managed via Epic minute-based system
- May float to other locations within Fargo as needed
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification via NBRC
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- ND state license or willingness to apply within 72 hours of offer acceptance
- Minimum 2 years recent respiratory therapy experience (highest required)
- Level 1 trauma and ICU experience required
- Strong background working with ER patients
- Experience working in a facility with 300+ beds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
Skills and Experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with healthcare team
- Able to handle rapid changes in patient condition
- Willingness to assist coworkers and seek help when needed

- Hamilton G5 & C1 ventilators
- V60, Airvo, CoughAssist, Vest, IPV AutoPAP
- Radiometer ABL90, Aerogen, Trilogy/Astrel
- Nitric Oxide, HFOV, Bunnell HFJV, Infant Flow SiPAP
- Radiometer TCM
Work Schedule
- Rotating shifts (days/nights)
- Every other weekend and holidays
- 8 and 12 hour shifts
- Opportunity to pick up extra shifts
Orientation and Training
- Lab orientation with RT education staff
- Preceptor shifts with unit RTs
Additional Information
- Must badge in and out at the facility
- Scrub color: Gray
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
