Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Largo, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Days, 4x10 hour shifts (06:45 AM - 5:15 PM)
Schedule Requirements:
- Weekend shifts required
- On-call required (10-15 on-call shifts per contract)
- Holidays as scheduled
- Floating within specialty and general OR as needed
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
- Required Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in OR nursing
- Experience Details:
- Circulating and scrub experience is a hard requirement
- Strong general OR experience across multiple service lines including Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and General Surgery
- First-time travelers accepted if they have strong general OR experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
Licenses & Certifications
- Maryland RN State License (required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
Job Responsibilities & Additional Information
- Surgical/sterile scrubs provided
- On-call shifts during weekdays start after shift until 6:30 AM next day; weekend on-call is 24-hour coverage
- Floating within CVOR specialty and general OR depending on case volume
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and on-call as scheduled
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or Attestation
- Government Issued Photo ID
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification
- Maryland State Exclusions List check
- Physical exam within 1 year including Latex Screen
- Fit mask test within 1 year
- Immunizations and titers:
- TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titers or vaccines required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
- Two supervisory references within 1 year
- Employment application/resume within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Age Specific Competency Exam (required for all)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for all units except OR and some others)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training as applicable
- Epic Portfolio Training Test Out Form (time sensitive; may allow test out of Epic training if criteria met)
Additional Notes
- Start Date: February 23, 2026
- Must sign job description, confidentiality agreement, dress code, and other facility-specific documents prior to start
- Security ID application must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Floating and on-call requirements are integral parts of the role
This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with strong circulating and scrub skills who are flexible with weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts. First-time travelers with strong general OR experience are also considered.
