Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float - Registered Nurse

Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
• No prior travel experience explicitly required

Facility & Work Environment

• Type: Short Term Acute Care, Major Teaching Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• Total Staffed Beds: 330
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Black scrubs (Cabell T-Shirt allowed instead of scrub top; surgery requires changing into provided surgery scrubs)
• Parking: Free for travelers (lot and garage available)

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Current State RN License (Primary Source Verification required)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, as required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as required
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except OR RNs; must be current or completed onsite within 2 weeks of start)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required for ICU
• NURSYS Verification for all RNs

Background & Screening Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Background check within 30 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (specific panel required)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Complete employment application/resume

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire required
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
• Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters may pend at start
• Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters may pend at start
• Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination required annually (declinations not accepted without approved medical or religious exemption)
• COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; declination form required if opting out
• N95 fit test completed onsite at orientation (male candidates must be clean-shaven)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Completion of facility orientation and annual education modules within 1 week of start
• Completion of confidentiality agreement, attestation forms, and IT access agreements prior to start
• Submission of medical or religious exemption forms for flu and vaccine exemptions must be approved before start
• Creation of facility-specific account for timekeeping prior to start

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Competency exams and core testing for subcontractors as required
