Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Columbus, Ohio

Position Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, night shifts)
• Patient Ratio: 1:5

Experience & Skills Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and CPI certifications preferred
• Required skills include:

  • IV starts
  • General nursing skills
  • Patient monitoring
  • Labs
  • Medication administration
  • Patient education
• EPIC experience required

Certifications & Competencies

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI acceptable
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Unit-specific competency exams required, including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required prior to start)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required within 1 year of start and updated annually, except for certain excluded units)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, PALS, NRP, EFM)

Licensure & Background Checks

• Valid nursing license verification required within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification required for RNs
• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific fingerprinting code 3701.881)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education accreditation confirmation required (accredited nursing program graduate)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
• Physical exam documentation within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start (or TB questionnaire)
• MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer
• Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership)
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• Compliance with facility-specific policies including dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and fraud/waste/abuse training
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit requirement for prior travel experience indicated

This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg/Telemetry RNs with strong clinical skills, EPIC experience, and the ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced inpatient rehabilitation setting.
