Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro MedSurg (6 West)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Unit: 6 West - Neuro
Unit Size: 20 beds (14 floor)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• Specialty: Neurosciences, including Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS), Stroke, Seizures, Surgical/Post-Op Spines, Neurological Disorders
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Floor patients: 1:5-6
  • Nurse aides: 3 per shift, ratios 1:7-10
• Telemetry: Yes, with monitor techs reading strips; RNs verify readings in Epic but do not read strips themselves
• Respiratory Therapy: RT available 24/7; floor vents managed by RT and physicians; RN vent experience not required
• Drip Titration: Only by physician orders; some protocols may allow RN titration with education

Required Certifications & Skills

• BLS (AHA) - required
• NIHSS certification - must have in hand at time of submission
• ACLS - preferred
• Recent Epic experience - required
• Strong overall Neuro experience, including proficiency with G-tubes

Experience Requirements

• Specialty Years of Experience: 6 years in Neuro MedSurg (based on job title "6W Neuro MedSurg - 40")
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Work Schedule & Orientation

• Weekend Requirement:

  • Weekend day shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Weekend night shifts: Friday, Saturday, Sunday OR Saturday, Sunday, Monday
  • Weekday nights: every other weekend or 3 weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Travelers expected to participate in holiday rotation
• Orientation: 1 shift on the unit; 36 or 48-hour shifts
• Dress Code: Any combination of white and royal blue scrubs

• Floating: Possible float to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10E as first priority, then other hospital units if needed
• Charge Nurse available 24/7

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro MedSurg RNs comfortable with complex neurological patient care and working in a dynamic hospital environment.
