Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Position Details

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, Friday through Sunday, 7 PM to 7:30 AM
• On-call: No
• Facility Type: Teaching Hospital, Magnet status, Level 1 Trauma Center
• Total Staffed Beds: 865
• Charting System: Epic
• Scrub Color: Teal top, black bottom
• Parking: Nights and weekends only, one-time $20 parking pass

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
• First-timers Accepted: Yes
• Required Certifications/Licenses:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification (state license NOT required)
• Preferred Experience:

  • Siemens MRI equipment experience
  • Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Key Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • Includes SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
• Licensure Verification:

  • Primary source verification required
  • MRI Techs are NOT required to have a South Carolina Radiology license
• Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
• Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
• Immunizations & Health:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters accepted if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
• Radiation Badge: Required for all Radiology/Cardiology travelers except MRI Techs (badge NOT required for MRI Techs)

Additional Requirements

• Competency Exams: Required as applicable
• Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
• References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
• Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual attire
• Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
• Radius Rule: 60 miles
• Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis

Notes

• Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at start date (no certifications expiring within 30 days of start accepted)
• Modules and onboarding instructions will be provided after clearance
• Facility uses Epic for charting and requires adherence to their specific policies and procedures

This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 1 year of experience, Siemens MRI knowledge, and who are comfortable working night shifts on weekends in a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital environment.
