Position Details

Unit Information
- Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Beds: 22 (16 rooms)
- Average Daily Census: 20
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Common Diagnoses: Burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery (flaps, grafts, leech therapy), urology, gynecology, ENT, oral/maxillofacial surgeries
- Special Procedures: Burn dressings, flap checks, leech therapy
- Systems Used: EPIC (documentation), Pyxis (medication)
- Support Services: IV/pharmacy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, social work, transport, rapid response
Shift Information
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other or every third weekend coverage required
- Floating within the hospital system required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of recent PCU nursing experience with a similar patient population
- Previous charge RN experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit requirement for prior travel experience indicated
Required Documentation & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start (including FBI and BCI fingerprinting)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Verification of nursing education from accredited programs (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, CASN)
- State license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RNs
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required within 1 year of start and updated annually)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
- Immunizations and health requirements including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Annual background check required by Aya Healthcare
- Annual review and signing of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement annually
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership role)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting must be completed using specific codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service of 90+ days
- Candidates using a compact license from states other than Ohio must complete a residency declaration form
- Floating within the hospital system is required
- Candidates must be prepared for weekend coverage as specified
