Job Opportunity: Pediatric Oncology Chemo Certified Registered Nurse

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatric Oncology, Chemotherapy Certified)
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year
  • Licensure: North Carolina or Compact nursing license in hand
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC)
    • APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly
  • Flu Vaccine: Required with no exemptions or declinations accepted
  • First-Timer: Accepts first-time travelers
  • Local Candidates: Accepted within 75 miles

Important Compliance & Documentation

  • Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and others as applicable.
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Required immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio vaccine or attestation
    • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start
    • Flu vaccination for the current flu season (October through March) mandatory for new candidates
  • References: Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
  • Employment Application: Required with 7 years of work history

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.
  • Competency exams and unit-specific training are required.
  • Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge is conducted during orientation.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation and valid for 2 years.
  • Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation.
  • Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) and other specialty-specific certifications may be required if applicable.
