Job Opportunity: Pediatric Oncology Chemo Certified Registered Nurse

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatric Oncology, Chemotherapy Certified)
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year
  • Licensure: North Carolina or Compact nursing license required and must be in hand
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC)
    • APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (First-timer OK)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly orientation sessions
  • Local Candidates: Accepted within 75 miles

Important Details

  • Flu Vaccination: Required with no exemptions or declinations accepted
  • Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days of start, including multi-county and nationwide checks
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Required immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio
    • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through March
  • References: Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
  • Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
  • Additional Compliance:
    • Must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance
    • Completion of facility-specific competency checklists and online modules prior to or during orientation
    • Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge during orientation (not required for RRTs)
