Job Opportunity: Pathology Assistant (Laboratory) - Temp

Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

The Pathology Assistant is responsible for the preparation, gross description, and dissection of surgical pathology specimens, as well as performing postmortem examinations under the medical direction of pathologists. This role supports the hospital and laboratory missions, goals, and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and dissect surgical pathology specimens
• Perform postmortem examinations under pathologist supervision
• Exercise independent judgment to schedule, organize, and plan work
• Ensure accuracy in specimen collection and labeling
• Adapt and work additional hours or shifts during emergencies
• Work efficiently and accurately for extended periods under stress
• Utilize HIS and LIS systems and operate laboratory instrumentation relevant to the position

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Pathology Assistant
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Certification: (PA)ASCP certification required (equivalent certifications not accepted)
• Other:

  • Must have own vehicle
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at application; no more than 5 days allowed
  • No schedule accommodations will be considered after submission

    • Skills checklist relevant to Pathology Assistant (updated within 1 year)
    • One supervisory signed reference from the past 2 years
