Job Opportunity: RN - ICU (Travel)

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Unit: NVICU (Neuro ICU)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 16
• Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1, sometimes 1:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity and staffing
• Staffing:

  • Unit secretary staffed during dayshift
  • Occasional nurse externs working as techs
• Equipment Used: Ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, EV 1000
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling:

  • Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Self-scheduling to some extent; manager may adjust shifts to balance schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract nurses float first; may be required to float to med/surg as needed
• Patient Care: Emphasis on attentive and compassionate care to patients and families

Required Qualifications

• Licenses: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Certification
• Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience (highest required years of experience)

Skills and Procedures

• ICU experience required
• Advanced skills including:

  • Insertion of central lines
  • Arterial lines
  • Lumbar punctures
  • Chest tube insertions
  • EVD insertions

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) required

Additional Notes

• Unit offers exposure to advanced technology and equipment
• Schedule offers some flexibility with self-scheduling and balanced shift assignments
• Contract nurses are expected to be adaptable with floating assignments
