Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – Gastroenterology / Endoscopy Lab

Location: Rockford, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience required (highest requirement)

Licensure and Certifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois
  • Approved CPR/BLS and ACLS certification required

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in patient care
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments following nursing techniques, policies, standards of care, and state laws
  • Perform patient assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care
  • Document care according to standards
  • Develop and execute individualized patient care plans as prescribed by physicians or clinic policy, including patient and family education
  • Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities, including shared governance
  • Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units or departments to support patient care continuity
  • Apply critical thinking to ensure patient safety and experience, escalating issues appropriately
  • Engage in professional nursing processes, unit practice activities, peer review, and offer solutions to practice issues
  • Use innovative methods to develop and implement care plans and educate patients and families
  • Initiate interdisciplinary collaboration to meet educational needs of patients and families
  • Mentor and precept new staff members
  • Contribute positively to professional and organizational environments and shared governance
  • Pursue personal development and support continuous learning, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines
  • Actively participate in at least one departmental or unit performance improvement activity

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with at least 2 years of nursing experience, licensed in Illinois, who are interested in a contract role in gastroenterology/endoscopy nursing.
