Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced OR Registered Nurse with strong orthopedic experience in total joint procedures. This is a day shift position with 5 shifts per week, each 8 hours (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM).

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 18 months recent OR RN experience.
• Must have 18 months permanent OR RN experience prior to travel.
• Strong orthopedic experience specifically in total joint procedures is required.

Certifications & Skills

• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross) certification required.
• Recent Epic charting experience (within last 6 months) is required.
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing must be passed during orientation.
• One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required (Charge RN references accepted).
• Traveler must work at least every other holiday.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID).
• Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, and education verification.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract and updated annually. Fingerprints must be done under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
• Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months and updated annually.
• Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, Negative TB or Chest X-Ray, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or approved exemption, Drug testing (10 panel), Eye exam.
• Annual renewal of certifications and health documents as applicable.

Orientation & Training

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome and cannot be done on a phone.
• Pass/Fail testing for ECG and medication dosing will be completed onsite during orientation. Retakes may be available after 1 week if needed.
• Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency tests are required.

Additional Requirements

• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment.
• Two references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted).
• Annual skills checklist required.

Summary

This is a travel/contract OR RN position requiring strong orthopedic total joint procedure experience, recent Epic charting skills, and multiple certifications and health clearances. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks, with day shifts and holiday work expectations. Compliance with all background checks, fingerprinting, immunizations, and facility-specific training is mandatory.
