Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele Unit)
Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit with possible care for ED holding patients
- 14-bed overflow unit to accommodate ED boarder patients
- Flex space inside GI Endoscopy area; patient census may fluctuate
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Med/Surg Telemetry (highest required)
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Competent in IV placement (PICC team involvement)
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Peripheral line care/management
- Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, oxygen tanks)
- Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions
- EPIC experience required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted
- Other certifications may be required as per unit description (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification)
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Weekend coverage every other weekend (EOW)
- Float required
- Minimal Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions
- Block scheduling may be accommodated but not guaranteed
- Locals not accepted (must be outside 75 miles)
- Pending license not accepted
- Scrubs: Navy blue or white

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
- Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees)
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Transcript/diploma if education verification not on file
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and pre-employment compliance attestations
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
- References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates only
- Employment application and work history verification required
- Skills checklist required annually
- State-specific documents including NYS Nurse Aide Registry, criminal background fingerprinting, disciplinary action search, sex offender registry, and Medicaid exclusion list as applicable
