Radiation Therapist - Radiation Oncology (Boise, Idaho)

Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiation Therapy
  • Location: Boise, Idaho (with possible coverage at other Treasure Valley sites including Meridian, Fruitland, Nampa, and Twin Falls)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Certifications and Experience

  • BLS (AHA or ARC) certification required
  • ARRT Radiation Therapy certification required
  • Must have 2-3 years of Radiation Therapy experience (minimum)
  • Must have Varian True Beam experience for Treasure Valley sites (Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Fruitland)
  • Must be proficient with ARIA (EMR system for record and verify)
  • Prefer experience with Epic EMR and Triology equipment
  • For Twin Falls site: Must have True Beam and Triology experience

Job Responsibilities and Environment

  • Treatment types include 3D, IMRT, SBRT, SRT/SRS; CT simulation performed rarely
  • Average 20-40 scans/studies per day depending on site
  • Radiation therapy staff may be asked to float between Treasure Valley facilities (Boise, Meridian, Fruitland, Nampa) if needed; no float pool
  • Twin Falls staff remain at that site only
  • Use of ARIA and Epic EMR systems
  • Equipment includes Varian, Siemens, Toshiba machines (standardized setup across sites)
  • Radiation Oncologists and midlevel providers available on site
  • Supervisors or lead techs present on each shift; leads typically do not perform treatments but can if needed
  • IV experience preferred but not required

Scheduling and Work Conditions

  • Monday to Friday, variable start times between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM
  • Treatment hours typically 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Travelers expected to be flexible to fill gaps in permanent staffing
  • No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
  • Clean, neat scrubs of any color or appropriate pattern or business casual attire
  • Department-specific orientation provided (usually 1 shift per site depending on floating expectations)

Additional Information

  • Travelers have been successfully integrated into the program; some have transitioned to permanent positions
  • Work schedule is days, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts, with weekends as needed
