Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, Day Shift (No weekends or holidays)


Job Description

  • Provide wound, ostomy, and continence nursing care
  • Direct wound care experience preferred
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Identifying types of wounds
    • Dressing wounds
    • Writing orders for MD to sign off on
    • Educating nurses on orders

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Wound Care)

Certifications & Competencies Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only

    • CCRN (Critical Care RN) if applicable
  • Competency exams including:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for ICU, PACU, Pediatrics, Tele)
    • Core Parts I, II, III (annual updates)
    • OSHA Mandatory (annual update)
  • Color Blind Testing (14 plate Ishihara)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including alias, county, national sex offender)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, fit for duty, free from communicable diseases
  • N95 Mask Fit Testing within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility guidelines
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination)
    • Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination (surface antigen and antibody titers for renal dialysis assignments)
  • Negative 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Dec 1 - Apr 30)

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 1 professional reference from management and 1 employment verification covering 1 year of experience within past 2 years
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required
  • License verification must be completed within 30 days of start
  • Badge photo with plain white background required 2 weeks prior to start
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance checklists and online training modules prior to orientation
  • Signed facility-specific policies including fingernail policy and flu exemption forms if applicable
