Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step Down Unit
• Shift: 4 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday if needed
• Floating: Required to float within skillset

Experience & Licensing Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Telemetry/Stepdown-level care)
• Required Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1+ year in telemetry/stepdown care based on specialty requirements
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
• License: Active New York State RN license (NY is not a compact state)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required

Clinical Skills Required

• Telemetry and stepdown care (PCU/DOU/IMC)
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including dysrhythmia management and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Oxygen administration (nasal cannula), non-invasive airway management
• Management of cardiac drips (no titration), blood product administration
• Central and peripheral line care/management
• IV therapy and phlebotomy
• Isolation precautions

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
• Patient population: Adults and geriatrics with long-term pulmonary conditions, ENT surgery, and other surgical patients requiring stepdown care
• Scrub color: Navy blue and white combinations

Scheduling & Policies

• Requests for time off or special scheduling must be submitted upon application
• The client may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without penalty
• Locals within 75 miles are not accepted for RN roles

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID
• 7-year criminal background check (including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start
• Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Education verification from primary source
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Immunizations/vaccinations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with titer or vaccination proof)
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• References and employment verification as required
• State-specific checks including NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable), fingerprinting for certain units, sex offender registry, Medicaid exclusion list

Additional Notes

• Charting system: EPIC experience required
• Magnet-recognized acute care teaching hospital with advanced stroke and surgical programs
• Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing

This position is suitable for RNs with telemetry/stepdown experience looking for a 13-week travel contract on night shifts in Rochester, NY. First-time travelers are welcome.
