Job Opportunity: Critical Care RN

Location: Pikeville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Nursing (Contract)
Contract Length: 10 weeks


Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to critically ill patients using the nursing process within established standards and practices.


Responsibilities

  • Assess and reassess young adult, adult, and elderly patients.
  • Care for critically ill patients including:
    • Airway management (basic and advanced)
    • Pain management
    • Cardiac monitoring and care
    • Post-operative vascular surgery care and recovery
    • Neurological, neurovascular, orthopedic care
    • Gastrointestinal, pulmonary/respiratory, genitourinary/renal care
    • Enteral nutrition and skin assessment/care
    • Central venous catheter care and maintenance
    • Specialized IV drips/titration and medication administration
    • IV therapy, IV additive therapy, transfusion therapy
    • Invasive monitoring and sedation
    • Assist with specialized procedures and use specialized equipment
    • Manage Code Blue situations in inpatient and pediatric areas
    • Admission and discharge criteria
    • Infection control and troubleshooting
    • Continuous renal replacement therapy
  • Perform head-to-toe patient assessments and ongoing reassessments.
  • Provide individualized, age-specific care supporting hemodynamic monitoring and physiologic functioning.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, treatments, and responses.
  • Treat patients and families with respect, maintain confidentiality, and address psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to develop and update individualized care plans.
  • Formulate and evaluate patient and family teaching plans.
  • Supervise and allocate work to other healthcare staff.
  • Assist physicians with procedures.
  • Respond to workload changes to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new employees.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and education.
  • Maintain patient care equipment and ensure adequate supplies.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stress.
  • Meet all departmental competencies.
  • Perform housekeeping and patient transportation duties as needed.
  • Adhere to dress code, infection control, safety, and personnel policies.
  • Serve as team leader and role model for staff.
