Position Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the CVPICU (Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) with a focus on pediatric care. This is a travel contract position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center specializing in children's healthcare.

Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVPICU)
• Experience: Minimum 3 years recent pediatric nursing experience required (first-time travelers not accepted unless they have 3+ years recent experience).
• Pediatrics Experience: Required.
• Education: BSN preferred.
• Licensing: Must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines; pending licenses not accepted. Tennessee state license or multistate license required.
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required, but first-time travelers are generally not accepted unless they have 3+ years recent experience.
• Local Radius Rule: Candidates must be outside a 100-mile radius (locals not accepted).
• Weekend Requirement: As needed; no weekend block scheduling except by discussion during interview.

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC only, required for CVPICU.
• BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only, required for all candidates except certain allied health roles.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or ARC only, required for pediatric units including PICU and CVPICU.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU and related areas (not specifically stated for CVPICU but relevant for pediatrics).
• Other certifications such as TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands.

  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start.
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• Photo for Badge: Must meet strict guidelines similar to passport photo, taken within last 6 months.
• References: Two recent professional references required.
• Skills Checklist and Evaluations: Annual updates and internal evaluations required for candidates employed with agency for one year or more.

Additional Notes

• Scheduling: No block weekend scheduling except by prior discussion.
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.
• Fit Testing: 3M N-95 mask fit test required annually; must pass prior to start.
• EPIC Experience: Questionnaire required for RNs; opportunity to test out of EPIC training if experienced.
