Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Pueblo, Colorado

Job Details
- Shift: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Years of Specialty Experience Required: 2 years
- First-time Travelers: Accepted if experience requirements are met
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, per unit needs
- On-call: No
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrub Color: Navy
Facility & Unit Information
- Level III trauma center
- Manages patients with multiple co-morbidities
- Cardiovascular, cardiac, brain, and spine services available
- Separate cath-lab on site
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
Time Off (RTO) Policy
- Maximum 10 RTO days approved
- No RTO allowed during these periods in 2026:
- March 14 – March 21
- May 8 – May 11
- May 21 – May 27
- June 28 – July 9
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in PACU nursing
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or Attestation
- Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front/back)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Proof of Name Change (if applicable)
- 7-year Background Check including:
- SSN Trace
- Colorado Statewide CBI
- Education Verification (accredited nursing school)
- FACIS III, SO (Sex Offender Search), OFAC Sanctions List
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 60 days of start
- Transcript/Diploma or Education Verification
- State License Verification (Colorado RN license required)
- NURSYS Verification (RN)
- References: 2 from last 2 years, including one from last year, from Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
- Employment Application and Work History Verification for last 3 years
- Skills Checklist annually
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit Mask Test within 12 months (3M 1860S, 1860R, 1870/1870+)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (including True 2-Step PPD or QGold/TSpot)
- TB Questionnaire annually if positive TB history
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing within 30 days of start and annually
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or facility-specific exemption during flu season (Sept 15 – Nov 12)
- COVID vaccine documentation or signed declination (AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna accepted)
- Color Blind Exam (Ishihara exam required prior to start; online testing not accepted)
Competency Exams (Required within 1 year and updated annually)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
- Core Part I, II, III (minimum 80% score)
- OSHA Mandatory Training (minimum 80% score)
Additional Notes
- This is a Level III trauma center with a diverse patient population including cardiovascular and neurological cases.
- Navy scrub color is required on the unit.
- Weekend shifts are required based on unit needs.
- No on-call responsibilities.
- EPIC is the electronic health record system used for charting.
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of PACU specialty experience, including first-time travel nurses who meet the experience and certification requirements.
