Location: Brownsville, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Specialty & Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 4 years in NICU Level III - IV
  • Certifications Required:
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • STABLE
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse License
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Number of Beds: 10 NICU beds, 8 Stepdown beds
  • Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, up to 4 RNs
    • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, up to 4 RNs
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3 and 1:1
  • Equipment Used:
    • HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula)
    • Ventilators
    • SiPAP
    • HFOV (High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation)
    • Central Lines, PIV (Peripheral IV)
    • Feeding Pumps, IV Pumps
  • EMR System: CPN/Meditech

Skills & Procedures

  • Must Have:
    • Minimum 2 years NICU Level III - IV experience (part of the 4 years total requirement)
    • RN, NRP, STABLE certifications
  • Preferred:
    • Additional NICU Level III - IV experience beyond minimum
  • Typical Procedures Performed:
    • Intubations (performed by providers)
    • Chest Tubes, PICC lines, Central Lines (performed by providers)

  • Floating Areas: Newborn Nursery
  • Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
  • Weekend Shifts: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per month (Friday through Sunday)
