Job Opportunity: RRT - Respiratory Therapy

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Unit Types: Pediatric Emergency Department (30 beds), PICU (24 beds), PIMC (24 beds), Pediatric Surgery (24 beds), Pediatric Oncology/BMT (24 beds), Level 4 NICU (92 beds)
  • Staffing: 6-12 staff per shift
  • Shifts: Day and Night shifts with similar staffing patterns
  • Patient Ratios: 30-40 units of therapy per shift
  • Equipment Used:
    • Servo U ventilator with NAVA
    • Avea Ventilator
    • V60 noninvasive
    • Vapotherm
    • Blender HFNC
    • Vest CPT
    • Redbox IPV
    • MetaNeb
    • Cough Assist
    • Percussor CPT
  • EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

  • Certifications:
    • CRT or RRT
    • Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of experience in Pediatric ICU or Level 3/Level 4 NICU required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

  • Nebulizer therapy
  • Airway clearance
  • BiPAP
  • Ventilator management
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Bronchial hygiene assist
  • Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Personality Fit: Team player, flexible, able to work collaboratively
  • Floating: Voluntary floating to adult units may be required
  • Dress Code: Olive/sage scrub top with black scrub bottoms preferred; all black scrubs accepted
  • Schedule: At least 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; weekend shifts do not have to be consecutive
