Job Opportunity: Mobile MRI Tech

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Job Title: MRI Tech (Mobile MRI Tech and Main MRI Tech on weekends)
• Schedule:

  • Fridays: Mobile MRI Tech until 5pm, then Main MRI Tech from 5pm to end of shift
  • Saturday-Sunday: Main MRI Tech
  • Shift Hours: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) on Friday through Sunday
  • Will work holidays if they fall on scheduled shifts
• On-call: Not required

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
• Certifications/Licenses:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
  • ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required (state license NOT required)
• Preferred Experience:

  • Siemens MRI equipment experience
  • Level 1 Trauma experience preferred

Facility & Work Environment

• Facility Type: Teaching Hospital, Magnet designated, Level 1 Trauma Center
• Total Staffed Beds: 865
• Charting System: Epic
• Scrub Color: Teal top, black bottom
• Parking: Paid parking for nights and weekends with a one-time $20 parking pass

Key Policies & Requirements

• Radius Rule: 60 miles
• Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Proof of work eligibility (I-9 form)
• Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
• Copy of Social Security Card or SSN verification
• Background checks including:

  • SSN Trace
  • County and state criminal checks (including South Carolina)
  • National criminal and sex offender registry
  • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
• Education verification (diploma or transcripts as placeholder if needed)
• Employment history verification (last 3 clinical employers)
• Radiation badge required for Radiology/Cardiology travelers (except MRI Techs)
• Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
• Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and health documents:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccination/booster documentation
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
• Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers accepted
• All certifications must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start
• Facility requires medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Color blindness testing required prior to start
• Facility-specific safety and orientation manuals must be acknowledged
• IV Therapy certification required for select LPNs if applicable

This position offers a structured weekend schedule with a reputable teaching hospital in Charleston, SC, requiring a minimum of 1 year MRI tech experience with Siemens equipment preferred. Certification and compliance with extensive health and background requirements are mandatory.
