Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Job Description

• Strong ophthalmology experience required, including cataract, glaucoma, vitrectomy, and blepharoplasty cases.
• Shift: Monday to Thursday, start times vary (as early as 6:30 AM). OR hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Expected to work approximately 32 hours per week, with potential for additional hours to complete cases and daily duties.
• No on-call duties, but must sign up for late stay as needed.
• Work setting: Surgicare center.
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist education program.
• CST certification desired but not mandatory; candidates without CST will be reviewed.
• CBSPD Ambulatory certification desired.
• BLS certification required upon hire.
• Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room experience required (higher years not indicated).
• CSS experience preferred.
• Must be able to scrub ENT and ophthalmology cases (cataract, blepharoplasty).
• Demonstrated technical ability and understanding of surgical/sterile field, instrumentation, and procedures required.

Certifications & Compliance

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all units.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, and other certifications as applicable depending on unit (not specifically required for this role).
• Surgical Techs do not need to be certified but must have graduated from an accredited program.
• Proof of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training required.

Background & Health Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days while on assignment.
• Education verification required within 90 days of start.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted unless used as placeholder).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination required during flu season.
• COVID vaccination proof required if vaccinated; unvaccinated candidates must complete declination form.

Facility Specific Requirements

• Candidates must complete various facility-specific documents including confidentiality statements, code of conduct attestations, user access forms, and communication standards prior to start.
• LMS modules must be completed during orientation.
• Onsite NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training required for ER RNs (not applicable for this role).
• Candidates must sign the facility’s code of conduct and confidentiality statements.
• Vehicle registration form must be completed prior to start.
• COVID-19 screening questionnaire required within 15 days of start.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Candidates must submit with a copy of their Surgical Tech degree.
• Candidates will be reviewed and interviewed by the manager.
• Must include Return to Office (RTO) documentation in submission to be honored at time of offer.
