Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Patient Age Group: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
  • Start Dates: 3/9 or 3/23
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, 6 weekend shifts per schedule (schedule published in 6-week blocks)
  • On-Call Requirement: Not applicable
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly
  • Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in NICU, pediatric critical care, pediatrics, and emergency department (ED)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Skills:
    • Level IV NICU experience (hard stop requirement)
    • Experience with high frequency jet ventilator and oscillating ventilator
    • Experience with pediatric cardiac anomalies
  • Licensure:
    • Current North Carolina Registered Respiratory Therapist (NC RRT) license required (processing takes 2-4 weeks)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers are welcome)

Additional Requirements

  • Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and others as applicable
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 12 months
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Required immunizations/vaccines including Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Polio
    • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through March
  • References: Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
  • Employment Application: Required with 7 years of work history
  • Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
  • Duke Guest Account: Must be set up prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
