Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Nurse (Night Shift)

Location: Carbondale, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Night-shift position on a 25-bed Med/Surg unit (11 private rooms, 7 semi-private)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 5-6:1 on nights, occasionally 1:1 total care patients
• Patient population includes stroke patients (non-TPA), comfort care/hospice, post-operative cases (amputations, drains, chest tubes, feeding tubes), heparin drips, wound care, altered mental status, CIWA, AKI, dialysis, and COPD exacerbations
• Must be able to work three 12-hour shifts, every other weekend, and every other holiday
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system required
• Onboarding includes one 8-hour day for modules and policies, plus up to two 12-hour orientation shifts on the floor
• Candidates must be able to "hit the ground running"

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Nursing (Med/Surg)
• Recent Med/Surg experience required
• Prior travel experience required (explicitly stated)
• Stroke certification preferred or required
• Ability to work night shifts and meet scheduling demands
