Job Opportunity: RN - Labor & Delivery (Travel)

Location: Overland Park, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: Birthing Center
• Beds: 12 LDRP, 2 C-section Suites, 3 Triage beds
• Patient Ratios:

  • 1:1 during active labor/induction or cesarean section
  • 3:1 postpartum
  • 2:1 antepartum unless unstable
• Staffing: OB Surgical Tech staff also function as unit secretaries
• Equipment: GE Fetal Monitors, Novii II
• Documentation System: CPN – Centricity Perinatal/Meditech
• Scheduling: 0545-1815 / 1745-0615 shifts
• On Call: None
• Floating Policy: None
• Patient Experience: Focus on understanding and supporting individual families' birth goals
• Additional Unit Info:

  • Unit remodel completed in 2024
  • Level II NICU available
  • 24-hour in-house anesthesia and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner support
  • Patient Experience Rating in top 10% within HCA for 8 quarters
  • Employee Engagement: 81%
  • Physician Engagement: 85%

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring or C-EFM
• Experience: Minimum 2 years labor experience required; postpartum experience preferred

• D & C (Dilation and Curettage)
• Jada placement

Dress Code

• Charcoal Grey Scrubs or hospital-laundered unit grey scrubs

Additional Notes

• Commitment to patient-centered care and individualized birth plans is essential
• Advanced skills in labor and delivery nursing expected
• No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
