Job Description

• Work night shifts: 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours long
• Must be available for call as needed
• Responsibilities include:

  • Scrubbing for Cesarean Sections
  • Planning, preparing, and maintaining surgical instruments and surgical field peri-operatively and intra-operatively
  • Post-operative room and instrument decontamination
  • Stocking operating rooms, labor/delivery rooms, nursery, and postpartum rooms
  • Removing outdated supplies and forms routinely
  • Performing direct and indirect patient care duties, including clerical, supply, and messenger tasks
  • Serving as unit secretary when needed
• Collaborate with all professional disciplines as part of the Childbirth team to ensure effective patient-family care, safety, and satisfaction

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (NBSTSA or NCCT only)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred)
• Must hold a valid Certified Surgical Technician license/certification as required for the position (primary source verification required)
• Fit test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually
• Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunity or vaccination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30)
  • TB test (skin or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break
  • Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break
• Criminal background checks and verifications including:

  • Massachusetts CORI check within 30 days prior to start date
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start date
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start date and annually
• Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
• Two recent references, at least one supervisor or above, in the relevant skillset

Preferred Qualifications

• Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity (strongly preferred)
• Tdap vaccination within 10 years (preferred)
• Positive PPD with negative chest x-ray documentation if applicable
