Job Opportunity: Medsurg RN

Location: Hastings, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Facility size: 30 beds (all private), average census 20
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:4-6
• Shift: 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm), block scheduling with some flexibility
• Weekend requirement: Generally every 3rd weekend, flexibility needed
• Holiday requirement: Every 3rd holiday, including one winter holiday
• Call/standby: No mandatory call or standby
• Floating: May float to PCU for MedSurg overflow or low acuity PCU patients
• Dress code: Any solid color scrubs, no patterns or designs
• Orientation: 2 days nursing department orientation + 1 day floor orientation

Patient Population & Experience

• Common diagnoses: Dementia, post-surgical, falls, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, cancer, COVID-19
• Preferred experience: Chest tubes, pain management, TPN, CBI, wound care
• Charge nurse experience: A plus but not required
• RNs do not titrate drips
• RT equipment present: CPAP managed by RT
• Telemetry: Tele on floor, monitor techs read monitors
• Nurse aids: 2-3 per unit

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license for Nebraska
• BLS Certification required
• NIHSS Certification required

• Specialty: Medsurg
