Unit Information

• Unit Type: PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
• Number of Beds: 14-22
• Staff per Shift: 4-6 nurses plus CNC (Clinical Nurse Coordinator) and unit secretary preferred CNC-free
• Patient Ratios: Med/Surg 4:1
• EMR System: Meditech
• Equipment: Typical PICU equipment; no neurosurgery or stroke cases, no foreign body airway removal
• Procedures Commonly Performed:

  • Cleft palate repair
  • Appendectomy (appy)
  • Chest tube management
  • Lumbar punctures
  • Seizure management
  • Noninvasive cardiology
  • Neuro, ortho, general surgery, thoracic cases (thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, pectus bar implants)

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Certifications: BLS, PALS (required)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in PICU or related specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Work Schedule & Environment

• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend days every 4 weeks
• On Call: None
• Floating Areas: NICU Level 1 or 2 only
• Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs

Summary
