Job Opportunity: Pathologists Assistant (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Specialty: Laboratory - Anatomic Pathology / Pediatric Pathology
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (5x8 Day shift)
Overtime: Possible if cases go late
Weekends: No weekends required
Job Description
- Pathologists Assistant with 2+ years of experience in Anatomic Pathology / Pediatric Pathology.
- Work primarily involves assisting in pathology services with pediatric focus.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) required.
- Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.
Certifications & Licenses
- PA (ASCP) certified or eligible.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - required based on unit/specialty.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - required based on unit/specialty.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP) - required based on unit/specialty.
- Chemotherapy certification - required based on unit/specialty.
- National Tech Certification verification (for allied professionals).
- State professional license relevant to Pathologists Assistant (copy required before start).
- Primary source verification of license required.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Anatomic Pathology / Pediatric Pathology).
Prior Travel Experience

Background Checks & Verifications

Competencies & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required.

- Fit mask test (N95 or PAPR) within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 60 days of start (with additional requirements if positive or new converter).
- Required immunizations or titers with lab values for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series and quantitative titer)
- Varicella
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start (must include marijuana).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required.
- COVID vaccine or declination required for tracking.
Facility Specific
- Photo for badge (must meet specific guidelines).
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
- Completion of facility-specific training modules prior to start.
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing (not required for per diem).
- Medication study guide provided for orientation test preparation.
