Job Opportunity: PICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Akron, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x 12-hour night shifts
- Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to an additional location (Summa) besides the main campus
- License: Ohio or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of submission
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only (RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only (RQI acceptable)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only (RQI acceptable)
- Additional Preferred Certifications:
- PCAR (Pediatric Care After Resuscitation) preferred for PICU
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred for PICU & ER
Experience Requirements
- Specialty Experience: Minimum 3 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting, with at least 2 years in a similar area to the pending assignment (PICU)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on assignment
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, counties lived/worked, statewide, national criminal, nationwide sex offender, FACIS Level 3, OFAC, education verification, and international checks if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required and must be updated annually or after breaks in service over 30 days
- Fingerprinting:
- Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprint results required within 1 month of start and updated annually
- Re-fingerprinting required if candidate has lived/worked outside Ohio since last fingerprinting
- Education Verification: Diploma/transcript and education verification required
- Physical Exam: Required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Immunizations & Health Documents:
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – positive titer or 2 vaccinations required
- Hepatitis B – titer, proof of vaccine series, or signed declination
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccinations required
- Flu Vaccine or approved Medical/Religious exemption required during flu season (11/15 - 5/31)
- Drug Testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; new screen required after breaks in service over 30 days
- Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs
- Unit-specific competency exam required and must be updated annually
- Core Parts I, II, and III required annually
- Facility-Specific Documents:
- Computer Security Agreement, HIPAA/Confidentiality Statement, HIPAA Privacy Training, and Float Policy must be signed/completed
- Non-Employee Personal Information form must be completed within 72 hours of signed contract to initiate access
Additional Notes
- Must confirm willingness to float at time of submission
- Must carry all required certifications and documentation prior to start
- Two positive professional references required, including at least one from the most recent employer
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
