Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Abilene, Texas

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position: RN in Main Operating Room
• Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
• Workdays: Friday through Sunday, no on-call required
• Surgical specialties include Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, General/Robotics/Trauma
• Craniotomy and burr hole experience required

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license valid in Texas
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, General/Robotics/Trauma) with craniotomy and burr hole experience
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
  • PALS (as applicable)
  • NRP (as applicable)
  • TNCC (as applicable)
  • EFM (as applicable)
  • CHEMO (as applicable)
  • ENPC (as applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
• Pass/Fail Testing for Telemetry RNs (if applicable)
• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Color Blind Testing (Relias Ishihara version accepted)

Experience Requirements

• Specialty experience: At least 1 year in the relevant surgical specialties with required craniotomy and burr hole experience
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma required
• Texas-specific checks:

  • TX DADS Employability Status Check within 30 days of start
  • TX Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
• Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or Qgold/Tspot within 1 year)
  • Rubeola (Measles) positive titer or 2 vaccines (MMR booster if negative/equivocal)
  • Mumps positive titer or 2 vaccines (MMR booster if negative/equivocal)
  • Rubella positive titer or 2 vaccines (MMR booster if negative/equivocal)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster if negative/equivocal)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31), exemptions accepted
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed

Facility Specific Requirements

• Completion and signing of various facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, patient-centered pledge, confidentiality, compliance, background check authorization, traveler ID form)
• Orientation modules (~3-4 hours) required during orientation
• Parking available for orientation and employment
