Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - LTAC MedSurg (Night Shift)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: LTAC Med Surg - Night Shift
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 or 48 hours/week options available)
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA or ARC certified, RQI acceptable
  • Experience Required:
    • Minimum 1 year nursing experience
    • LTAC experience preferred (not mandatory)
  • Shift: Night

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for South Carolina (Primary Source Verification required, no pending actions)
  • BLS certification (AHA or ARC only)
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, EFM, and other certifications as applicable based on unit requirements (check unit specifics)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA, OSHA/TJC training)
  • Medication and Arrhythmia competency exams (Pass/Fail Testing) required for RNs in certain units
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI)

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or Attestation
  • Driver’s License or State ID required ASAP for computer access and on-duty identification
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Background Check:
    • 7-year background check within 12 months of start date
    • Must include SS trace, all aliases, state and county searches for all states/counties lived or worked in last 7 years
    • Federal and international searches as applicable
    • FACIS III search required
    • Sex Offender search required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
  • Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., if no proof of residency for 12 months or if lived/worked in WV in last 7 years)
  • Education Verification (highest level required, diplomas not accepted as placeholders)
  • Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Physical Exam: Physician’s statement within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations and Health Documents:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Annual TB Questionnaire
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B documentation or declination
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required (not required for 100% remote)

Orientation & Training

  • Online Orientation Modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
  • Pre-Assignment Testing (medication and EKG exams) must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login info
  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, specific background and lighting requirements)
  • Facility-specific policies such as Floating Policy and Contractor Acknowledgment must be signed

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • LTAC experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • Candidates must carry valid ID while on duty
  • Respirator Fit Test will be completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)
  • Candidates must have stable internet and computer access for online modules and testing
  • Candidates will have 2 attempts to pass required tests; failure results in cancellation
