Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - DMCC Acute Rehab Unit
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Unit: DMCC - Acute Rehab Unit
- Beds: 29
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day: 5:1
- Night: 6:1
- Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:9 or 1:10
- Rehab Services: Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy (ST)
- Respiratory Equipment: CPAP/BiPAP at night for sleep apnea, nasal cannula (including high flow but no heated high flow)
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Neurology, Neurosurgery, Amputations, Multi-trauma, Cardiac, Complex medical (tracheostomies without ventilators)
Schedule & Work Requirements
- Shifts:
- Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday rotation
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: Yes, float to LTAC and med-surg units; no floating to HAU unless trained
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs; no t-shirts unless approved
Orientation
- 2 days classroom orientation
- 2-3 days/nights with a preceptor
- Training includes QRP and specific rehab documentation
- 12 non-billable orientation hours
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Active Illinois RN license or proof that application process has been initiated
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Must comply with drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen
Experience & Skills
- Strong neurology skills required
- RN not required to titrate drips except heparin
- RN required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
Additional Notes
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
- OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or pay for the shift
Required Qualifications Summary
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (active or in process)
- BLS (AHA) certification
- Strong neuro skills and experience in acute rehab nursing
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to float to LTAC and med-surg units as needed
- Compliance with drug-free workplace policies
