Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Surgical Services (Operating Room)
- Shift:
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Includes 1 weekend shift per month (Saturday or Sunday)
- Holiday rotation required
- On-call shifts: Up to 4 call shifts per month (End of shift to 7 AM)
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs or between like units/sister facilities
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist
- Certifications:
- NBSTSA certification required (NCCT not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency
- Trauma Level: Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center
- Preferred Experience: Neuro (spines/crani), ENT (flaps), Robotics (DaVinci Xi) cases highly preferred
- First-timers: Accepted

Additional Requirements & Information
- Local Radius: 60 miles
- Locals: Considered on a case-by-case basis
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called off hours can be broken down to add up to 1 shift
- Block Scheduling: Possible with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
- Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November, peak in August-September)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Licensure:
- South Carolina CST license or equivalent verification required
- Primary source verification required, license must be active and unencumbered
- Health Documents:
- Initial physical exam, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required: Tdap (within 10 years), TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and OR competency exams
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
- Radiation Badge: Must be obtained prior to starting floor work; process may take 5-7 days
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
