Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: Sarasota, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 20 weeks

Job Description

• Provide skilled home care nursing (Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Commercial insurance patients)
• Perform 6-8 home skilled visits per day
• Care includes:

  • Cardiopulmonary assessment
  • Basic wound care, ABI compression dressing, wound vac dressing
  • Pleurx/Aseptdrain care
  • Foley catheter change and care
  • Staple/suture removal
  • Use of glucometer and pro-time machine
  • SQ/IM injections, lab draw venipuncture
  • IV skills, PICC line or Midline care and dressing change
  • SQ port access/deaccess
• Manage patients with general medical diagnoses and high-risk diagnoses such as heart failure (HF), COPD, myocardial infarction (MI), pneumonia, and stroke
• Post-operative care
• Work hours vary based on HomeCare office needs, including:

  • Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM or 9 AM to 6 PM
  • Thursday to Monday or Friday to Tuesday shifts
  • Alternating weekend shifts
• Self-scheduling of visits and hours based on office needs

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Home Health)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of home health nursing experience (skilled home care experience required; private duty nursing experience only is not accepted)
• OASIS training and experience required
• IV skills and wound care experience required
• Valid Florida RN license with primary source verification
• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable car for home visits
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption
• Flu vaccination or declination with mandatory mask wearing at all times while at work
• Must complete required competency exams including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score required)
  • Color Blind Testing (Relias)
• Required background checks including:

  • Standard background check within 1 year of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance (must be completed prior to start)
• Education verification required (transcript/diploma)
• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (or within 1 year if prior positive PPD)
• Annual TB questionnaire completion required
• Required immunizations or titers:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Standard 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Respirator medical clearance if respirator use is required
• Completion of BayCare Online Learning Center modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)
• Professional photo for badge required prior to start
• Compliance with BayCare dress code and tobacco policy
• References: 2 professional references from the past 2 years required
• Employment application and skills checklist required

• Scrubs: Any solid color scrub
• Equipment provided: Laptop, MiFi for internet access, portable printers
• Documentation systems: BayCare Forms, BayCare Scheduling, Ace Timesheet
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
