- Telemetry: Monitored in a centralized unit
- Charge Nurse: Free floating
- Support Staff: Patient Care Technicians, Patient Transporters, House discharge nurse floats across departments
- Documentation System: EPIC (experience preferred within last 6 months)
- Scrub Color: Any, no logos
- Local Traveler Rule: Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify
Certification Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required as applicable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - Required as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - Required as applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required as applicable
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (Relias online version acceptable)
- Competency Exam (minimum passing score 80% or higher if Angoff score is higher)
- Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors; annual completion required)
Health and Background Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Adult TDAP Vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test (2-Step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- TB Questionnaire within 90 days of start (annual if positive)
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only 1 attempt allowed)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Background Checks and Documentation
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification required (highest level)
- Fingerprinting required for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
