Job Opportunity: RN - Med Surg (Travel)

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information

Unit Type: Inpatient Rehab
Number of Beds: 15
Staff per Shift:
- Day: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
- Night: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
Patient Ratios: 5:1, max 6:1
Equipment Used: VS machines, transfer equipment (Hoyer lift, sliding boards, etc.), EKG, bladder scanner
EMR Systems: Meditech, Pyxis

Typical Procedures

Patient Transfers
Bladder Scans
Dressing Changes
Medication Administration

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:
- Transfer training
- EMR proficiency
Preferred:
- Rehab experience
- Rehab scoring documentation

Required Certifications & Licenses

BLS Certification
Registered Nurse (RN) License (Texas)

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in Med Surg specialty

Work Environment & Schedule

Floating Areas: Med-Surg, Telemetry, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, Overflow Units (between hospitals in Bay Area and Corpus Christi)
Excludes ICU
Weekends: Every other weekend
Holidays: Scheduled
On Call: Rare, only if hospital census is low

Additional Notes

Best personality fit: Teamwork, takes initiative
Unit Guidelines: Bedside report/handoff, hourly rounding, ensure bed alarm activation
