Job Opportunity: Staff Nurse (Registered Nurse - RN)
Location: Binghamton, New York
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, caring, and healing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
- Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
- Administer medications safely following policy.
- Participate in resource management including staffing and time management.
- Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
- Pursue professional development and complete mandatory education.
- Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
- Support learning for new employees and students.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of direct nursing experience (higher value from conflicting data).
- Nursing (RN) experience ranging from 6 months to 3 years.
- Management experience 0 to 3 years (preferred but not mandatory).
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Licensure & Certifications:
- Current New York State RN License.
- BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
- Skills:
- Strong collaboration and communication (verbal and written).
- Critical thinking and sound judgment.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Problem solving, quality focus, reliability, safety, and risk management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.
- Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
- Relevant skills certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC as required by unit.
