Job Opportunity: Nurse Navigator (Registered Nurse)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel contract position in an ambulatory clinic setting, preferably with cardiology experience. First-time travelers are accepted.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Ambulatory clinic experience is a plus
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Preferred Skills
- Cardiovascular assessments and interpretation of laboratory results
- Medication administration
- Office duties including chart preparation, disability forms, telephone triage, and follow-up calls
- Experience in cardiology and family care clinics preferred
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for District of Columbia in hand at time of submittal
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC)
- Flu vaccine required (seasonal vaccination/documentation mandatory)
Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM), but BLS and RN DC license are mandatory.
Work Environment
- Ambulatory clinic, with a preference for cardiology specialty
- Scrub color: Cranberry/Wine
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the past year, with annual updates as required
- Drug screening within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tdap vaccine preferred within 10 years
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required for all employees during flu season
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/state screenings required prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia testing may be required depending on unit assignment
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and facility-specific modules completion
Summary
This travel contract position is ideal for an experienced RN with at least 3 years in nursing, preferably with ambulatory and cardiology experience. The role requires a DC RN license, BLS certification, and compliance with extensive health and background screening protocols. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
