Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Titusville, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience (5-10 years preferred). This role requires expertise in labor and delivery, postpartum care, and newborn stabilization.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in specialty (Labor and Delivery)
  • Preferred 5-10 years experience
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Key Responsibilities and Skills

  • Labor & Delivery (L&D), postpartum, Mother-Baby care
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), Vaginal Exams, Labor Support
  • Managing pregnancy-related diagnoses, Pitocin induction, labor induction
  • Handling repeat and primary C-sections
  • L&D triage for pregnancies 20 weeks and greater
  • Labor management and newborn resuscitation/stabilization
  • Assisting with breastfeeding after delivery
  • Performing Non-Stress Tests

Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital setting
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:2-3
  • Float required
  • Weekend requirements vary
  • No on-call required
  • Local candidates must live more than 30 miles from facility

Certifications Required

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Intermediate (preferred)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for RNs
  • Other preferred certifications:
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred, not required
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – preferred, not required

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Florida
  • Primary source verification required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check within 6 months including social security trace, nationwide and sex offender checks, education verification
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
  • Education verification (ASN, BSN, or MSN)
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 3 months of start
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • COVID-19 vaccination documentation or approved exemption forms
  • Flu vaccine or declination documentation (not required for contract workers)
  • Two professional references within 2 years
  • Performance evaluation within the last year if applicable
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as required
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation, safety, and compliance modules prior to start

  • Scrub color provided
  • Charting systems: Meditech and GE Centricity
  • Free parking available
  • Strict attendance policy: 3 call-outs may result in termination
  • Shift change notices have specific consequences for refusal
