Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech (OR Tech)
Location: Ketchum, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
A small hospital in Idaho is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to start ASAP in the Operating Room (OR) on Surgical Services Floor 2. The role involves supporting a busy OR with approximately 8 cases per day across multiple specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, C-sections, and endoscopy.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts (typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM)
- Call required starting at 3:00 PM, approximately 1 weeknight per week (4 weeknights per month)
- Weekend call approximately 1 full weekend per month (Friday through Sunday)
- Holiday call may be assigned if holidays fall during the contract
- Call response time: Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital while on call
Unit and Environment
- Surgical Services Floor 2 with 4 OR suites plus 1 endoscopy suite
- OR team covers endoscopy cases; CSTs must have some SPD (Sterile Processing Department) and HLD (High-Level Disinfection) experience
- CSTs assist with cleaning and turnover of ORs alongside the orderly team
- Scrubs provided (blue, per surgical services attire policy)
- Orientation includes pairing with a preceptor for unit-specific training and review of unit norms and system values
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required (NCCT or NBSTSA certified)
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist with a strong orthopedic background
- Prior travel experience required
Additional Information
- The facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address
- The OR has both a Charge Nurse and Assistant Nurse Manager on each shift
- Use of TDOC for instrument tracking and ProVation software for endoscopy documentation
This position is ideal for experienced CSTs with prior travel assignments looking for a fast-paced OR environment with a variety of surgical cases.
