Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts, weekdays and some weekends
Floating: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience (highest requirement found)
- BCLS and IV certifications required
- Skills required: IV start, patient monitoring, lab work, medication administration, patient education
- EPIC experience required
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) – verify per unit specifics
- State license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for RNs
Competencies & Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed)
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education accreditation confirmation from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Transcript/diploma verification required
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
- Subcontractors must complete additional background acknowledgements and fingerprint proof
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations required:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); decliners must wear a mask
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
References & Documentation
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership role
- Employment application required, including education verification for nursing candidates
- Skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually
This position requires a dedicated RN with solid clinical skills, EPIC experience, and the ability to work night shifts with some weekend coverage. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and certifications is mandatory.
