Job Opportunity: CST/ORT - Operating Room (Travel Assignment)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

Seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with Operating Room (ORT) specialty for a travel assignment. The role requires experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) settings and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Required Qualifications

• Certification:

  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification is mandatory
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in CST/ORT specialty
  • Must have CVOR experience
  • Must have completed at least 2 prior travel assignments (prior travel experience required)
• Skills:

  • Critical care experience is a must
  • Pre-Op experience is a plus
  • Excellent documentation skills, including BCMA
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a high-acuity patient area

Unit and Work Environment

• Unit: Cardiovascular Pre-Op (CV PreOp)
• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Staffing includes RNs, CNC support, secretary, and manager shared with CVOR
• Equipment used: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
• Documentation system: Cerner
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM
• On-call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
• Floating: Within scope of practice and experience

Procedures and Responsibilities

• Large-bore IV starts
• Chin to toe hair removal
• Medication administration
• Skin assessment
• Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
• Transport patients to OR
• Assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin preparation
