Job Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele)
• Shift: 4x12 hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:00)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg)
• Unit Size: 26 beds
• Patient Population: Post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, cardiac pharmacological interventions
• Charting System: EPIC required
• Start Date: March 3, 2026
• Locals Accepted: Must live more than 75 miles away
• First Time Traveler: Accepted

Required Qualifications

• License: New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty (MS/Tele)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required by unit
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• IV therapy and phlebotomy: Peripheral line care/management
• Respiratory care: Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
• Adherence to isolation precautions

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID
• 7-year criminal background check (felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
• Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees)
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
• Various certifications and competencies as required by unit and profession
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (if booked within 30 days)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract
• References and employment verification required for travel agency compliance
• Background checks and state-specific documents as required by New York regulations

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of MS/Telemetry experience who hold a current New York RN license and are comfortable working day shifts in a cardiac-focused tertiary care setting. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are welcome.
