Job Opportunity: Medical Technologist (Laboratory)
Location: Washington, District Of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (07:00 - 15:30)
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Float Requirement: None
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in hospital clinical laboratory
- Specialty Experience:
- Experience with CellaVision, Roche Cobas, Siemens Dimensions
- Blood specimen storage, hazardous materials handling, MSDS knowledge
- Proper disposal, labeling, and quality assurance protocols
- Knowledge of immunology/serology (C3, C4, total Complement)
- Pregnancy testing (urine or blood), rapid test kits
- Controls, RPR (rapid plasma reagin)
- Hematology/coagulation knowledge
- Urinalysis (manual macroscopic and microscopic UA)
- Certification: ASCP or ASCP-MLS certification highly preferred
- Prior Travel Experience: Successful completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment required
- Vaccination: Flu vaccination required for all travelers
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid state license for Medical Technologist (Laboratory) discipline
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)
Additional Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Immunization and health documentation including:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start (updated annually)
- TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
- Documentation of MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and other required immunizations or titers
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
- Completion of facility-specific modules and orientation prior to start
References & Work History
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
