Job Opportunity: Med Surg Resource Team/Float Pool - RN
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Med Surg Resource Team/Float Pool RN to work in a fast-paced hospital environment with 250+ beds. The role involves floating across multiple med-surg units and campuses within Fargo, including oncology, trauma med-surg, cardiac, neuro, observation, medical behavioral, and innovations units.
Required Qualifications
- Active North Dakota RN license or Compact state RN license
- Minimum of 1 year recent Med Surg experience in a busy hospital (200+ beds)
- Float Pool experience preferred
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Experience working in a Level 2 or higher trauma center
- Willingness to float within Med Surg cluster and between campuses
Prior Travel Experience:
- Will NOT accept first-time travelers unless primary experience is Resource Pool/Float Pool
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and holiday
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (overtime billed after 48 hours)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio:
- 7am-11pm: 1:4-5
- 11pm-7am: 1:5-6
- Unit size: 24-47 beds depending on unit
- Floating: Across all med-surg units on Broadway, SMCF, and South University campuses (including med-surg overflow and med-surg status patients in critical care units)
Job Responsibilities
- Head-to-toe patient assessments
- Medication administration via various routes
- Care plan formulation and documentation
- Wound, line, and drain care
Equipment Used
- Epic EMR
- Accudose Rx
- Alaris IV pumps
- Philips vitals machines
Orientation & Training
- One full shift on a Broadway med-surg unit
- One full shift on a SMCF med-surg unit
- Team expectations and campus tours during the first week
Additional Notes
- Must badge in and out at the facility
- Scrubs color: Navy Blue
- Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Local travel rate adjustments apply for those living 60-80 miles away (not relevant for candidate consideration)
