Job Opportunity: OR Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Martinsburg, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift Length: 8-hour shifts (also 10- and 12-hour shifts available)
• Shift Times: Varied start times, primarily day/evening shifts
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling for travelers; block scheduling allowed if it meets unit needs
• Call Requirements:

  • RN: One weekend day on-call (7a-7p) per month
  • RN: One weeknight on-call (7p-7a)
  • Call response time: 20 minutes (if >20 minutes away while on call, required to stay)
• Weekend/Holiday:

  • Weekend call required as above
  • No holiday shifts required (holiday call rotation as needed)
• Floating: No floating required
• Orientation: 3 shifts of floor-specific orientation

Unit Information

• Main OR with 14 suites
• Average 28 cases per day (including add-ons and SDS cases)
• Case types: All surgical cases except Open Heart; includes neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general surgery, ENT
• OR nurse-to-tech ratio: 1:1 (typically 2 techs to 1 RN)
• No aids or housekeeping; techs responsible for room turnover
• EMR system: EPIC
• Charge nurse coverage: Yes, 7a-7p (may circulate cases if needed)
• Scrubs provided for RNs and OR techs

Required Qualifications

• License: Current RN license for West Virginia
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA) required
  • ACLS and PALS required
• Experience:

  • 2-3 years of OR nursing experience required
  • 2-3 previous travel assignments required (prior travel experience required)
  • Ortho/Neuro experience preferred
• Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an address outside 50 miles from the facility
  • Background checks must be disclosed at time of submission

Additional Notes

• RN scrubbing in the OR is a plus but not required
• RT (Respiratory Therapist) available 24/7 for vent management in OR and PACU
• Pharmacy available 24/7 with Omnicell system
• No IV team; anesthesia interprets telemetry strips in OR
• Surgeon on call hours: Weekdays 7p-7a, weekends 7p Friday to 7a Monday

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with prior travel assignments looking for a 13-week contract in West Virginia.
