Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a NICU Registered Nurse for a Level II Special Care Nursery. The unit requires consistent monitoring and maintaining stability of cardiopulmonary, neurologic, metabolic, and thermal functions in newborns 32 weeks or greater. Responsibilities include assisting with specialized procedures such as lumbar puncture and endotracheal resuscitation, and initiating/modifying treatment per protocols.


Schedule

  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required
  • Float to Postpartum and Labor & Delivery for neonatal care required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Postpartum and Labor & Delivery units
  • Multiple successfully completed travel assignments
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • STABLE certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with neonate, infant, and maternal-fetal patients
  • CPAP experience

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/statewide searches
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual updates)
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B status
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency (must score 80% or higher)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start

Prior Travel Experience

  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers with NICU experience are accepted
